Since 1971, Micajah Bullock Chapter, NSDAR, has served Raleigh, North Carolina, and local areas in the promotion of historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
Historic Preservation
- Clean and maintain local cemeteries
- Mark graves of local American Revolutionary War Patriots
Education
- Promote Constitution Week within local elementary schools by providing Constitution-related educational materials and classroom readings
- Host supply drives for local schools
- Sponsor DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest for high school seniors
- Support Crossnore Communities for Children
- Host annual children’s book drive for local at-need children
Patriotism
- Participate in wreath laying ceremonies honoring American Revolutionary War patriots and veterans of the armed forces
- Assemble snack bags with thank you notes for the USO Lounge at the Raleigh airport
- Lay wreaths on veterans’ graves with Wreaths Across America at Raleigh National Cemetery
- Support the Durham Veterans Administration Medical Center
- Collect food, coffee, and personal care items to send to troops serving overseas
